| Dear Pastor and Praying Friends, Greetings in the name of our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ. I am back from my short trip to Spain and I want to share with you what took place. Upon my arrival into Jerez (Her-eth), Spain, I learned that I had arrived without my luggage. That wouldn’t have been such a problem had it not been Saturday evening. Therefore I had to preach Sunday morning in slacks, a dress shirt and a borrowed tie. Praise the LORD, my luggage arrived that evening. It appears that we will not be returning to the city of El Puerto de Santa Maria. I was able to contact some of those who had been coming to our services in El Puerto and to my discouragement one family had returned to Romania and another was attending another church in a nearby city. I visited other cities in the southern part of the country and am now seeking the Lord’s direction as to where He wants us to go. One of the places I am praying about is called La Linea (lee-nay-uh). It has a population of 63,000 and is connected to the British territory of Gibraltar. Gibraltar has a population of 28,000 and is located on the Mediterranean. On a clear day you can see Africa across the sea. Should this be the Lord’s direction for us we would be able to reach the Spaniards in La Linea, the Brits that are on Gibraltar and the multitude of people that come from all over Europe. I looked in a local guide of the area and found that there are no Baptist churches in that entire area. Of course this is the story for the majority of Spain. Please help us by praying that the Lord will show us His perfect will in all of this. Good news, good news!!!! I talked with Domingo Lopez (a friend from Argentina that we have prayed for over the past two years) and I asked him about his salvation. He told me that he asked Jesus to save him about a month prior. Hallelujah!! PRAISE THE LORD. And on the last Sunday that I was preaching at Bethel Baptist Church in Rota I asked if there was anyone who wanted to be saved or if there was anyone who wasn’t sure if they were saved. A lady named Doreen Liggons, who is always faithful in church, a Sunday School teacher and from all indications “a saved person”, looked at me with tear filled eyes and said that she just didn’t know. After praying with Doreen, I thought that she might just be having problems with her flesh and encouraged her to continue praying. I told here that only she knew whether or not she was truly saved. When she got up from praying she said, “Now I know that I am saved, I just got saved.” I baptized her that evening along with a boy named Alexander Thomas who had trusted Christ as his Savior earlier in the year. I had the opportunity to help Bro. Jamin Witte pass out tracts and build a wall in his church building. Pray for his family as they are preparing to start services in Jerez in November. The Lord gave me opportunity to witness to our lawyer, Carlos Clavijo, again of his need to be saved. He knows he needs to be saved but won’t give in just yet. Please pray especially for him that he will forsake the sin that he is holding on to and open his heart to Christ. On the return flight from Spain, I had the opportunity to witness to a British man named Mark. Although he has Scriptural knowledge, he still needs Christ as his personal Savior. I’m so grateful for the numerous opportunities that the Lord gave me on my trip to Spain. We will be working on getting the paperwork started to re-apply for our visa/residence to return to Spain hopefully in the spring of 2007. Please pray for us as we try to raise the remaining 30% of our needed support by then. |
