| Dear Pastor and Praying Friends, Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for continuing to pray for us and asking the Lord to help us in the ministry here in Spain. God is so good to us! He is such a wonderful Savior! I couldn't imagine serving some other "god". Although we have experienced trials and disappointments, we rejoice in knowing that our Lord is still in charge and watches over us each and every day. To date, we have not heard anything on our appeal to allow us to remain in Spain. I will be contacting the Office of Foreigners to see if there is any new information. I do not expect much to be done right now because most of the government offices will be shut down the entire month of August. We cannot complain, due to the fact that as long as there is no decision on our paperwork, we are officially legal to be here. No news is good news right now. We ask that you please pray for wayward sheep here. Satan is hard at work drawing away our family from Romania through job situations and the love of this world. We have tried to stay after them, but feel it is best for the Lord to deal with their hearts and get their attention. We are very thankful that Ilie (ee-lee) has returned from Romania and was with us in a recent Sunday service. He needs to be saved so please continue to ask the Lord to save him. We are praying that the Lord will use him to bring back the Romanian family. We are glad to report that Christiane, a German lady, was recently baptized. She was saved two years ago in Germany but never followed Christ in believer's baptism. After coming to several services the Lord convicted her of her need to be baptized. It is especially wonderful to us because she is the first person to be baptized in La Iglesia Bautista de La Biblia. She and Javier have been coming faithfully to the services and we praise the Lord for how He is working in their lives. She requests prayer that she will be able to find a job. Her husband is disabled and cannot work and therefore the responsibility falls on her to provide for her family. You may be wondering how services are conducted with so many nationalities. All of the immigrants are learning Spanish and many of them speak some English. Each of them have the Bible in their own language. The services are conducted in Spanish with the preaching being in Spanish and/or English. When necessary, we have a translator for Romanian. Bianca, a young Romanian lady, has translated a Spanish tract into Romanian to reach the immigrants from her country. Patsy and the boys have wrapped up another school year and are enjoying their summer break. We are very grateful that our children want to have an active part in the ministry. They look forward to soul-winning, visitation night and love passing out tracts. Even Daniel who just turned three loves to ride in his stroller and place tracts under doors and give them to people. Garrett has been serving as our song leader and does a wonderful job. We recently started another form of outreach through basketball. Every Friday night, we are playing at a local basketball court and invite whoever is there to play. Children and adults from nearby ministries have also come to play with us. We have already met some new people and hope that the Lord will use this outreach to bring them to a saving knowledge of Christ. The mission field can be especially difficult for children when they have no friends to spend time with. We have a group of about twenty getting together and it has been a real encouragement to everyone. |
