December 1999 - January 2000

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We continue to look forward to getting to Spain and are happy to announce that we have just reached 21% or our needed support.  Praise the Lord!  It is our desire, Lord willing, to obtain the rest of our support by the end of this year.  We are very grateful to the Lord that our middle son, Seth was baptized on January 23rd.  He had asked Jesus to come into his heart last January.

Unfortunately, December and January were very slow months for us.  Due to the holiday season, weather, and my mother becoming ill, we haven't been able to attend many meetings and had to reschedule a few to later in the spring.  We would like to thank those pastors who have graciously worked with us to accommodate the situations that have affected us.  We covet your prayers for my mother, Cathy Beck.  She is scheduled to have surgery on the 10th of February.  The good news is that our schedule for February, and throughout the spring is filling up and we are eager to get back to a faster pace.  Although, during this time we have been able to enjoy a more stable routine for home schooling.  It is really difficult working school in with traveling.

The Lord has allowed us to come in contact with a few of the missionaries that are already on the field in Spain.  They have been very helpful with providing information that allowed us to adjust our required support level more accurately.  They have also reminded us of the tremendous work that needs to be done in Spain.  This brings to mind Winston Churchill's infamous statement to the American people during World War II, "Give us the tools, and we will finish the job."  Our hearts are greatly burdened to get to Spain in order to carry out the ministry that He has called us to.  We realize that His plan is for His churches to provide the tools necessary to do this job.  Therefore we covet your prayers as well as financial support while we continue to do His will for our lives.

We have been blessed with a wonderful opportunity to be able to learn Spanish while we are on deputation.  The Spanish ministry of our home church is growing by leaps and bounds under the leadership of Bro. Gilbert Mendez.  To further the effectiveness of this ministry, classes are being offered to those who wish to learn the language.  The instructors have offered to work with us whenever we are in the area.  This is a tremendous blessing that the Lord has provided to us through our own church.  With this in mind, we hope to be able to shorten the amount of time that we will have to spend in language school.
