April - May 2003

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Near the end of April we moved to El Puerto de Santa Maria in the suburb of El Manantial.   We have begun passing out tracts and trying to get a work started.  There are so many opportunities here and everywhere you turn there is someone in need of Jesus.  The Lord has allowed us to have landlords who speak English.  The man is from Spain, but his wife is Cuban.  We have been trying to witness to them and invite them to Bible Study.  She desires to have her children come and play with our boys to better their English, but we know the Lord would have them to be saved and it appears that He is opening this door for us.

Pastor Chris Parker has returned to Spain to take back over as pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.  It was a wonderful experience to be able to fill in for him and reach a few of our country's service men and women for Christ.  We are thankful that things in Iraq seem to be quieting down.  We pray that the soldiers who have received the New Testaments might read the Word of God and be saved.  Just after Bro. Parker returned the Lord gave me the opportunity to lead Ruth, a lady from Switzerland, in making a profession of faith in Christ.  She then obeyed the Lord in believer's baptism.  She was raised Catholic and only knew about the wrath of God.  When she started coming a few months ago, she began to learn about the Grace and Mercy of God.  When Ruth first began coming to Tuesday night Bible studies, she was totally against what she termed as "a show" made by Biblical baptism.  Following her profession of faith, she was eager to be baptized and even went into the ocean while she was sick so that she could be scripturally baptized before leaving Rota.  Praise the Lord because His mercy endureth forever.

Also during this time of turn over we were able to help out in Kid's Krusade with Bobby and Gretchen Brown.  We were excited to see about thirty children each night.  We had a wonderful time and saw one young lady make a profession of faith in Christ as her personal Savior.

We ask that you pray for us as we continue trying to improve our Spanish.  Patsy will begin taking another course now that the children are out of school for the summer.  Daniel has been doing much better and we thank the Lord for answered prayer.  The Lord has answered another of our prayers by allowing us to purchase a van.  The car we had before just wasn't big enough for a family of six.  God is So Good!!  It is so wonderful to have a Savior that always takes care of His children and blesses them abundantly.

The Lord has allowed me the opportunity to go and preach for two missionary brethren in the month of June.  I ask that you please pray for the power of God to be upon me as I preach as well as safety in traveling to and from these meetings.  It is always insightful to visit with other missionaries in Spain and see what the Lord has done in different parts of the country.

One last, but very important request is that you please pray for the missionaries here in Spain that have been faithfully at it for many years.  I have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful brothers that are in great need of encouragement.  They are warriors who have been in the battle a long time and need God's strengthening hand to be placed on them.  We all need encouragement from time to time.  I know that I can count on all of you to do your part.  Thank you.
