December 2000 - January 2001

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are excited to see a new year and new opportunities to serve our Lord.  We have already seen two young ladies come to know Christ as their Savior this year and are looking forward to seeing many more.  We must be busy bringing in the harvest before the return of our Lord.  "The fields are white unto harvest".  We are hoping to do more for the Lord this year than we have done in all of our lives.  It is our hope that you have made a similar decision in your lives concerning this new year.

We want to thank everyone for their prayers in behalf of my mother, Cathy Beck.  The Lord called her home to be with Him on December 14, 2000.  Though we miss her greatly, we rejoice in the fact that she is now in Heaven.  My dad is doing very well through all of this.  The Lord has given wonderful peace to all of us.  Please continue to pray for our family.

The Lord has helped us again in filling up our schedule.  We had only scheduled a few meetings into this year due to not knowing how my mother's health would be.  I began calling the second week of January to try to fill our calendar, and so far, the Lord has given us various meetings all the way through September.  He is so wonderful to us.  What a blessed opportunity to serve such a Glorious Savior!!  Our support level has not changed much since our last prayer letter, but we know that we will soon be making plans to buy our tickets and enroll in language school.  We are talking to different missionaries already in Spain and they have been very helpful with information and are excited that we will soon be there.

Sadly, we have learned of more missionary families coming off the field in Spain.  Our spirit is stirred within us to do all we can (with the Lord's help) to get to Spain as soon as possible.  Spain is now being called the "Missionary Graveyard".  Please pray for Spain.  We know of one other family, currently on deputation to go to Spain, but it is still not enough to evangelize the whole country.  The Spanish people are very hard to the Gospel and are even turning from their religious belief in Catholicism to Agnosticism or even atheism.  When we started deputation, the last count we had showed that 98% of the people there were Roman Catholic.  That number has now dropped to around 88% (only 35% of which are practicing).  We believe the Lord is preparing to do a great and mighty work in Spain, and that through their dissolution in the Catholic Church, the people are being prepared for the Gospel.  Please pray that we will be His faithful servants in Spain and that He will use us in a great way.  We prayerfully ask that each person who reads this letter would honestly ask the Lord what He would have you personally to do about Spain.  Please pray, give or go!
